Dear Beloved Community,

Our readings yesterday on Remembrance Sunday offered us the image of shelter from the storm (Isaiah 25: 4). This is a useful way for us to understand the church.

Are we not wearied by wars and rumors of wars, of crisis in Ukraine and the Middle East. Are we not divided, polarized, at each other’s throats. My sense is that there is a lot of anger and misery in the world today. That was evident for those trapped in a cycle of watching the circus that is the US election that festival of toxic rage.  The world needs shelter from the storm.

I read a question in my sermon preparation that stood out: Is Your Church a Storm Shelter or just another Storm?

Amid the chaos of the modern world, let’s be a place of peace and security. The church is God’s safe place. Are you feeling bruised by this toxic and self-absorbed society? Come find shelter here. Are you wounded, feeling vulnerable, tired? Come find shelter here. Are you feeling disorientated and disappointed? Come find shelter here.

Blessings,

Rev Rob

Other Happenings

Bicentenary campaign.

In 2026, our beloved church will celebrate 200 years of ministry and mission in this community. There is much to be thankful for!

This is an opportunity to make several improvements that enhance our beautiful church building.  These improvements will ensure that the church meets the challenges of the next century with boldness and vigor.

We are very excited about this development and hope you will join us in the campaign.  Are you willing to contribute and pledge a gift to the bicentenary?  You might like to pray and to chat to family about whether you are in a position to contribute something to this campaign. This is God’s church, but stewardship of it belongs to us. We can all do our bit to make sure it thrives into the next century.

You can give a gift electronically through online banking or through the parish website –  https://kilternanparish.ie/donation-form/ .

You can give a donation directly via the parish office on in an envelope in the collection basket.

Please ensure you mark your gift Bicentenary

Food For the Soul

Are you looking for something to read to nourish your soul?

Perhaps you would like to take a book.

We are launching a book programme from the bookshelves in the Gathering Grounds. Every few months we will add a new book of choice. TO begin with we have Tim Kellers wonderful book, The Reason for God. This is operated on an honesty system. You will see a suggested contribution on the back of the book. Take a book and leave a contribution in the big red box. If you are a bit low on cash, you are welcome to take one. We all need our souls nourished and it is a gift from us. If you are able to do so, you might leave a bit more.
