Dear Beloved Community

Sunday was the National Day of Prayer for Young People. Recently at the 250th anniversary celebration service for Sunday Schools in Church of Ireland, each Diocese was given a plaque to light up this Sunday. We were privileged in Kilternan to host the

Plaque on Sunday. Here are extracts from the prayer used across the church on Sunday.

Lord Jesus, You are the light of the world. Even in the darkest places and hardest times, Your love shines brightly.

On this day of prayer for young people, we thank You for the ways the light of Your

love, hope, and joy are reflected in the lives of children and teenagers across this

land. We rejoice in their laughter filling our churches, their energy renewing our

zeal, and their fresh perspectives inspiring and challenging our faith.

… we ask You to protect the hearts and minds of our young people and draw

them closer to You each day. As they grow, help them to know their worth and identity in You alone. Bless also the families in our Diocese as they raise their children in the knowledge of Your goodness.

May children’s and youth ministry continue to flourish throughout the Church of

Ireland, bearing much fruit for Your kingdom.

We ask all this in the name of Your Son, Jesus Christ. Amen

Blessings

Rev Rob

The visit is free, but we hope you might choose to make a donation on the day to support our chosen charities, St Vincent de Paul and Barnardo’s Children’s Charity, Ireland. Suggested donation €5 per child.

Play Café

Hi viz jackets on and hard hats at the ready – it’s Construction week at Play Café. There will be plenty of building sites for your little budding builders, and we can’t wait to see all the future site managers and building contractors on duty. Lots of sensory, messy and loose parts to explore, build and create – the diggers, trucks, roads, tracks, blocks and so much more will be out along with some ‘cement’ gloop before we finish with singing.  Please book you family space in advance via the parish website.

Bumps & Babes

If you are a new parent or parent to be, come join us to relax and enjoy a cuppa in company at the Gathering Grounds on Wednesday mornings from 10am-midday. An informal friendly meet-up where you can chat and meet others in the community. So, if you’re expecting or have a baby from newborn to pre-walking, come alone or bring a friend.  A warm welcome awaits you, no need to book.  For more information contact Julie gatheringgrounds@kilternanparish.ie.

Give

We are so thankful for your generous giving, which allow us to invest in growing the ministry of Kilternan  Parish and in outreach, giving to those in real need. Regular giving by standing order allows us to budget more effectively, and so is incredibly helpful.

To give online or to set up a standing order or pay by bank transfer,  just click the link below, which will take you to our website.

Volunteering Opportunity Saturday mornings in the Gathering Grounds

Can you help? Would you like to use existing skills or learn new skills and grow in confidence?

Without our wonderful Saturday Gathering Grounds volunteers we would be unable to open on Saturdays. It is at this time of the year that welook to build the team as some of our volunteers have moved on to embark on a new chapter, finding work or volunteering elsewhere because of their volunteer experience with us. This always brings us great joy, but we do miss their input! We need some new volunteers to ensure the viability of this important parish and community initiative.  Volunteers help in a variety of ways, from setting up to tidying up, to engaging with and serving those who come to the café. Whether you prefer to be front of house or in the kitchen there are a variety of roles that make up the team. Volunteers help us provide a safe and welcoming space while making a difference building connection and community. No previous experience is needed just a willing heart. Volunteers work alongside Linda and her team.

So, if you have a couple of hours, and a little energy to spare and share one or two Saturdays a month we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with Linda 086 857 6557

I want to promote an initiative being rolled out across our dioceses called the 2025 Prayer Movement.

The challenge to is pray for growth in the churches of Dublin and Glendalough – you’ll hear me talking lots more about this throughout the year.

The vision is to see all parishes in our United Dioceses flourish as communities of faith, confident in sharing the Good News we have been given and serving our society.

I hope you join us in the 2025 Prayer Movement.

The goal is to sign up 2,025 people to join us in praying for our diocese as we plan for our future.

My hope is that we in Kilternan do our part!  Have a look here and please do consider signing up as we create a movement for growth.

Food For the Soul

Are you looking for something to read to nourish your soul?

Perhaps you would like to take a book.

We are launching a book programme from the bookshelves in the Gathering Grounds. Every few months we will add a new book of choice. We have just added Bear Grylls The Greatest Story Every Told. This is operated on an honesty system. You will see a suggested contribution on the back of the book. Take a book and leave a contribution in the big red box. If you are a bit low on cash, you are welcome to take one. We all need our souls nourished and it is a gift from us. If you are able to do so, you might leave a bit more.
