Dear Beloved Community,

On Thursday I begin a short sabbatical. I’ve been greatly encouraged by all the goodwill I’ve received. I think many of you spotted before I did the need and value of such a time.

I do look forward to the opportunity for rest and renewal, but I also look forward to returning. Kilternan is a special place and I continue to be enthused by what God is doing here.

I am grateful for all who will keep the ministry and ministry flourishing while I am away, both the staff team and the wonderful team of volunteers who keep our community healthy and vibrant.

I plan to be on sabbatical from the 15th March till the 27th May.  I will publish a list in the next edition of Klips which will outline to the best of my ability those who will be covering services. The team from Holy Trinity Rathmines will be helping cover services alongside our own team in Kilternan. We might also have a few visits from Rev Fred Appleby and Brian Hickey.

Rev Fred Appleby has also made himself available for funerals and other pastoral emergencies. Our own Carol Barry will be there to support more general pastoral concerns. We are in good hands.

Blessings

Rev Rob

Notes for this Week

Easter Vestry 11th March 2024.

Please note that our annual Easter Vestry is tonight (the 11th of March at 8pm). This is an opportunity to look back at some of the accomplishments of the year past and to look at some of our goals for the year ahead.

Midweek Communion

There is a service of Holy Communion this Tuesday at 11:45 in the Meeting Room. All welcome. We will take a pause on our midweek service during the rector’s sabbatical.

Taizé Prayer Service on Tuesdays

During the season of lent there will be a short service of prayer with Taizé song from the choir using that ancient order of Compline.  It is in the church every Tuesday at 7:30pm.

Youth Night

First year to 6th year students are invited to a Make your own Pizza Night on Friday March 15th 7:30-9pm @ The Gathering Grounds. Spread the word and sign up via the website.

Play Café Gets OWT! (Outdoors With Toddlers)

Unfortunately Play Café Gets OWT is cancelled for this week, a decision we don’t make easily. Apologies for any disappointment this may cause to little ones and their grown-ups. For those who made hand/footprint ceramic painted keepsake plates; these are available to collect anytime during the week, or at our next session. We thank you all for your donations towards Shine A Light Campaign.

We hope to have a spring in our step the following week. All our sensory, messy and loose part play activities, story and singing will have an Easter and Spring feel to them. Whether we get to make the move back outdoors is very much weather dependent. You can book your family space for 20th March via the parish website (it seems to have got dropped off this term’s block). For more information contact Lynn 0876957061 cfm@kilternanparish.ie

Bumps & Babes

If you are a new parent, or parent to be, you are invited to come join us and enjoy a cuppa in company on the couches in the Gathering Grounds from 10am on Wednesday. The informal friendly meet-up is a space where you can relax, chat and meet others in the community.  So, if you are expecting or have a baby from new-born to pre-walking, come alone or bring a friend. A warm welcome awaits you and there is no need to book.

For more information contact either Julie gatheringgrounds@kilternanparish.ie  or Lynn 087 695 7061.
