Dear Beloved Community,

The schools are out, and while the weather might suggest otherwise, summer has begun. This has an impact on our church rhythm, not only on Sundays but throughout the week.

Summer offers us a change in how we experience the world. Better weather allows us to access nature in ways that are more freeing. Brighter evenings offer us opportunities for later walks, and for the young, maybe even later bedtimes. If we are fortunate enough to have a holiday, we may have the opportunity to experience new places and to meet new people.

It is indeed a time to be thankful for God’s good gifts. Whatever you plan this summer, it is my prayer that you have time to experience God in new and fresh ways. I’m particularly mindful of those words from Psalm 118: 24; ‘This is the day that the Lord has made; we will rejoice and be glad in it’

Blessings,

Rev Rob

PS: A big thanks to everyone who helped at the parish clean up on Saturday. What a great effort on what was a thoroughly wet day! At one point we counted 25 people of all ages getting stuck in. Well done to the Glebe wardens Bruce and Neil for organising.

Service for Sunday 7th July 2024.

8:30am:  Holy Communion

11:00am: Morning Prayer

Note that during the summer we have two services, not the regular 3. We will return to our normal pattern of worship in September.

Notes for this Week

Midweek Service

There is a service Holy Communion this Tuesday at 11:45am in the church.

Takeout Church

If you are planning on travelling this summer or just spending some quality time with the family, Takeout Church is a free resource pack for having a fun filled family experience of church wherever you are. The packs are full of activities and even some sweets and are available in the Gathering Grounds or the back of Church.

To help we’ve also created this modern worship playlist on Spotify which you can see here with some of the favourites we sing on Sundays and so new ones.

Of course, boxes like this are not a substitute for active participation in a worshipping community. Rather, they are a supplement; and a tool for deepening faith. Engaging families during the busy summer months means meeting them where they are, which often means helping them to “keep church” at home or when away.

Gathering Grounds still open.

The Gathering Grounds is still open. It will close on te 15th July for a summer break. We will still be serving lunch on a Tuesday till then, but we will not be serving our usual Thursday lunches.
