Dear Beloved Community

And those who were dancing were thought insane by those who could not hear the music.  Friedrick Nietzsche

This is one of my favourite quotes. We thought about it at our Blessing of the Backpacks service yesterday.

In the world today, to claim to be a Christian, I don’t just mean to tick a box on a census form, but to be an active proclaiming follower of Jesus, has become strange to onlookers. To talk openly about faith in your workplace, school, or wherever, might get you strange looks. That’s nothing new. In scripture, Paul reminds us that the message of Christ seemed like foolishness or silliness to those outside of the Church. But for those who could hear the music, it made complete sense.

Blessings

Rob

Other Happenings

I want to promote an initiative being rolled out across our dioceses called the 2025 Prayer Movement.

The challenge to is pray for growth in the churches of Dublin and Glendalough – you’ll hear me talking lots more about this throughout the year.

The vision is to see all parishes in our United Dioceses flourish as communities of faith, confident in sharing the Good News we have been given and serving our society.

I hope you join us in the 2025 Prayer Movement.

The goal is to sign up 2,025 people to join us in praying for our diocese as we plan for our future.

My hope is that we in Kilternan do our part!  Have a look here and please do consider signing up as we create a movement for growth.

Restival: Invitation into Sacred Pause

The Church’s Ministry of Healing: Ireland invites you to join us for a day-long immersion in nature, a space to simply be and to return to the Source of our Being, on Saturday, September 20th, from 10am – 4pm, in Enniskerry, Co. Wicklow. In a world where rest is considered idleness, what does it mean to take a sacred pause, and bring compassionate presence to all that is here?

Once you have booked, you will receive an Eircode, info about facilitators, parking and car-pooling & what to bring, etc. The itinerary includes:

  • Story & sacred pause with Lydia & Pam
  • Scripture Circle with Julie
  • Centering Prayer with Anne
  • Mindful Wander with Pam
  • Nature art with Penny

This is a donation- based event, with a sliding scale depending on your means. Go to www.ministryofhealing.ie to book or to get in touch with CMHI.

Food For the Soul

Are you looking for something to read to nourish your soul?

Perhaps you would like to take a book.

We are launching a book programme from the bookshelves in the Gathering Grounds. Every few months we will add a new book of choice. We have just added Bear Grylls The Greatest Story Every Told. This is operated on an honesty system. You will see a suggested contribution on the back of the book. Take a book and leave a contribution in the big red box. If you are a bit low on cash, you are welcome to take one. We all need our souls nourished and it is a gift from us. If you are able to do so, you might leave a bit more.

Anam Cara Parent Support Evening

Anam Cara, the organisation that supports bereaved parents, will hold its monthly Parent Support Evening on Monday 8th September at 7.30pm in the Maldron Hotel, Whitestown Way, Tallaght.

This event is free and open to all bereaved parents regardless of the age your child died, the circumstances of their death, or how recent their death was. You do not need to register in advance.

We also offer an online support group meeting. To find out more call 01 4045378 or email info@anamcara.ie
