Kids & Families

Kilternan has a full time kids and family ministry and over a hundred families actives in the church with activities for babies, toddlers and kids of all ages. We work closely with our National School throughout the year also as well as with support groups in the wider community.

9.30am Family Worship

Kilternan has a modern family worship service at 9.30am on each of the first three Sundays of the month in the Parish Centre and an ‘All Together’ worship service at 11am on the forth Sunday of the month in the Church with tea, coffee and treats served after. These services are designed for young families families, young adults and children of all ages. Kids from 4 to 13 stay with you for the first 20 mins and can attend Sunday Club halfway through and there is also a soft play area with toys for toddlers and babies from 0 to 3 years so you don’t need to leave (even for those little tantrums!). The ‘Pebbles’ are the junior Sunday club, and the ‘Rocks’ who are the older kids,  Its open to all children of primary school age (have a chat with a leader if you have a 4-year-old who isn’t at school yet but you think is mature enough).. Times can change and you can find times for upcoming services here

Play Café

Play Café Gets OWT! The OWTdoor part of Play Café Gets OWT! Outdoors With Toddlers. We hope to begin to move as many of our sessions back to the outdoors over the course of the Spring block as the weather improves.

You are always sure of a warm welcome and lots of fun at Play Café Gets OWT! and we are always delighted to see both new and familiar faces. As we will have some messy activities (messtivties!) , please come dressed for the mess! (you may consider bringing a change of clothes for your little one. Activities each week are linked to a book/theme with a variety sensorial, messy play, art and loose parts activities and almost always our homemade playdough. We finish our time together with story and song time.We have a limited number of places available each week and we ask that you pre-book your family space via our parish calendar here.

Bumps & Babes

We have a Bumps and Babes group meeting every Wednesday morning from 10am. If you are a new parent, or parent to be, you are invited to come join us and enjoy a cuppa in company, on the couches in the Gathering Grounds at Kilternan Parish Centre. The informal, friendly meet-up is a space where you can relax, chat and meet others in the community. So, if you’re expecting or have a baby from new born to pre-walking, come alone or bring a friend. A warm welcome awaits you. No need to book. An opportunity to meet other parents in the community.

Church @ Home

Just 50% of children growing up in Christian homes will keep their faith as adults and the role of parents is a major factor.

With more influences and influencers online and in society, helping our own families to find their faith and trust in Jesus in church and at home has never been more important and that’s why we’ve created Takeout Church.

If you are planning on travelling this summer or just spending some quality time with the family, Takeout Church is a free resource pack for having a fun filled family experience of church wherever you are. The packs are full of activities and even some sweets and are available in the Gathering Grounds or the back of Church.

To help we’ve also created this modern worship playlist on Spotify which you can see here with some of the favourites we sing on Sundays and so new ones.

Kitchen Table Project

Just 50% of children growing up in Christian homes will keep their faith as adults.

What many people don’t realise is that mums, dads and carers are the most important influence on children developing a faith that lasts. The Kitchen Table Project will raise awareness of the role mums and dads play and provide the tools and support to help parents succeed in inspiring faith at home.

When you sign-up you will receive one resource per week to inspire faith at home via email. It is free for all and if you would like to sign up you can do so easily online below or with any of the team in the Parish.

Safeguarding

Large numbers of children visit the Church and Centre for worship, Messy Church, Sunday Club, and a wide range of other recreational and educational purposes each week. The Church’s ministry to them is a priority for the Parish. Safeguarding Trust means that our children are protected from all kinds of abuse, and that the parish is consciously promoting their general safety and welfare and you can view our full Safeguarding policies and contact information here
