In 2026, the Kilternan Parish, Church of Ireland, will celebrate it’s 200th Anniversary. Associated with this anniversary, there will be many celebration events. This is also an opportunity to make several improvements that enhance our beautiful church building. These improvements will ensure that the church meets the challenges of the next century with boldness and vigour.

What do we want to do?

We are still at a relatively early planning stage, but the Select Vestry has identified the following 5 pieces of work:

1. The commissioning and installation of a new Stained-glass window to mark this significant milestone.
2. An upgrade to our heating. This will include new radiators, new pipework and a look at improving our efficiencies.
3. An electrical upgrade and new lighting for the church. This will involve a complete rewire  and new lighting throughout the church.
4. An audio-visual upgrade. We will look to improve our use of technology in the church and in the parish centre.
5. A general repair and redecoration of the church to celebrate the beauty and fullness of our building.

How are we going to do it?
As part of this campaign, we will be raising money for these exciting improvements. Initial estimates are that it will cost around €180,000 to achieve these goals. We hope to meet part of this through grants, endowments and the release of some restricted parish funds. However, this is a significant commitment, and we can only do it through the generosity and support of the parish community. We are setting ourselves a target of raising €80,000 over the next 18 months through a capital campaign.
